Rush Limbaugh's Obama Rant...again.

After bashing President Barack Obama during his entire campaign, conservative radio talk show host, Rush Limbaugh couldn't wait to take a jab at the then President Elect. "I hope Obama fails", he said on his radio show last week. As usual, he's wielding partisan politics as his defense by labeling President Obama's policies. "Why in the world do we want to saddle them with more liberalism and socialism? Why would I want to do that?", Limbaugh said. “Shows you just how far gone we are. Well, I know, I know. I am the last man standing”. Applause. Applause. How brave of Limbaugh to have the backbone to speak out on behalf of all Republicans. He says the problems with Republicans are that they are siding with President Obama out of fear of criticism or racism.

FOX News couldn't wait to jump on Limbaugh's rhetoric soap box. FOX anchor, Sean Hannity nailed the "exclusive" interview with Limbaugh at his radio station. Uh, I doubt CNN, MSNBC and the major networks bothered to stand in line.

Hannity began the interview (set up) by showering Limbaugh with accolades as if he was introducing a superstar to the stage. "You have defined conservatives for two decades...record ratings a year”, Hannity said. "He (Obama) represents the antithesis. In terms of his world view, do you want him to succeed?"

On cue, without hesitation, Limbaugh braced himself, "I'm so glad you asked me this question!" Hannity was beside himself, proud that he asked the exclusive question once and for all. I've never seen him this giddy and star struck since his soft ball interview with Alaskan Republican governor, Sarah Palin. Wink. Wink.

Objective news reporting went down hill from there. Actually, it was more of a “Limbaugh’s Rant” since Hannity never questioned or asked for specifics of Limbaugh's outlandish and vague claims. Limbaugh attempted to soften the blow by pleading ignorance. "I don't know about this guy, I've got my suspicions and they're pretty close to my convictions. We're going to have to wait and see what he does. If he does Reagan, then he succeeds, but if he does FDR, New Deal, then I want him to fail". Although he believes he's the messiah of the Conservatives, I've read blogs from Republicans who are disgusted by Limbaugh's remarks and don't want to be associated with his seething rhetoric.

President Obama didn't let Limbaugh slide and for good reason. "You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done," he told top GOP leaders. President Obama's aides further explained that everyone should look past bipartisan politics and work together. Of course FOX News distorted President Obama's facts instead of reporting it as is. "President Obama warned Republicans on Capitol Hill today that they need to quit listening to radio king Rush Limbaugh if they want to get along with Democrats and the new administration", according to FOX.com.

Limbaugh does admit he doesn't know President Obama. I’ll give him that. But instead of concocting a volatile and decisive environment he should sit tight and do the whole country a big favor. Shut up, wait and see.

Alzheimer's hits again

I just found out that actor Sean Connery, who passed away last October, died of complications due to Alzheimer's. Alzheimer's debilitates cognitive function. The cause of his death hit me three-fold: He was my mother's favorite movie star, they are both in their 90s, and she too has Alzheimer's. According to a recent   AARP feature story ,  I was shocked that the great jazz singer Tony Bennett has Alzheimer's. Tony was also another idol of my mom. She would always perk up whenever she heard his infamous "I left my heart in San Francisco" ballad. Photo by Dyna Lopez In 2017, one year after his diagnosis, my mom, brother, and I watched him for the first time performing in San Francisco to a packed audience amongst a sea of silver-haired ladies. He was 90 at the time and did not disappoint. He belted out hit after hit and showed no signs of the debilitating disease. She sang along to a melody that was unfamiliar to my brother and me. My brother asked her, ...

Obsidian Security's Ben Johnson - From the NSA to Emerging Cybersecurity Startups

I've worked at rapid growth companies and emerging technologies are always on the milestone. In the Cybersecurity space, tools in  security operations and analytics such as  EDR, NTA, UBA, SOAR, and recently, XDR have evolved into household terms.  So what's next?  CDR - Cloud Detection and Response When I heard about cloud security, I researched and came  across an online interview - "Frictionless SaaS Security" -  with Ben Johnson, one of the Co-Founders of Obsidian Security, a three-year-old startup based in Newport Beach. "Frictionless" evokes visions of seamless, smooth, and easy deployment and use.  Is it really possible to deploy an uncomplicated cloud security solution that will address a very complex problem?  This frictionless solution is the next emerging tool called Cloud Detection and Response.  I found the interview very insightful as it dove into Ben’s backstory from working for the NSA ...

"Self Absorbed" in San Francisco

I've heard about the SF Asian Film Festival for the longest time but have never gone to see a film. I guess I just took advantage of the fact that because I live here, there's always next year, yada, yada yada. The truth is that I'm too busy with my own life to care what else is happening outside my perfect shiny bubble (movie title hint). I kid. I kid. Now where's my dam mirror??? That changed Friday when my friend invited me to hang out with some filmmaker friends to see their comedy premier, "Self Absorbed" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3459B5wDuZI at Sundance Cinemas (former Kabuki Theater) in Japantown, San Francisco. The plot is based on a story about a secret group of people with special powers. A smooth talking, silver coated bagel monger and a petite, energetic blue mop (say whaaaat?) are not your typical superheroes. Marvel are ya paying attention? The whimsical and light piece is one of the many works featured in the 94 minute short program serie...
